Very good reference book, especially for herbicide chemistry, nomenclature, history, application, and environmental fate. Thorough and up to date on commercially available herbicides (as of 2014). I taught introductory weed science at a jr. college this fall and used this book to supplement the course materials, based on recommendations of a couple of weed scientists at UC Davis. The book in and of itself would not have been appropriate as a text book for my class because it is too technical for freshmen in my opinion, but would be excellent for upperclassmen and graduate students. Provides some weed management information for specific crops (turfgrass, aquatic, orchards, corn, etc), but it is very general, as would be expected, and better crop specific information can be found on-line thru various university extension publications.
The price was a lot cheaper than I could get at the college bookstore, but it took a lot longer than I expected to arrive.
It is a great book, with tremendous information. It was required for my class, but I am very pleased with it even though it was used. The price is great and the quality was very impressive. I will buy more used books from Amazon in the future.

The reason I gave the book four stars not 5 is that being on LDN for a while I found that it is more clinical than one for non medical professionals.Perhaps another book needs to be written that a layman can understand and that has reports given by people like me who have benefited so tremendously from LDN.My story is that I have many Auto-immune diseases. Hashimotos Thyroidites, Fibromyalgia, Asthma, Arthrites, Psoriasis, to name many of them.I had pain from damaged tendons, Fibromyaligia, brain fog, memory problems that I thought came from aging as well as these diseases. Trouble breathing, walking any distance, and not being able to sleep. I was taking Amytriptelyn for sleep, the given drug for Fibromyalgia. Could not remember a name I had just heard. A report came out that Amytriptelyn was effecting the brain. and decided I had to get off it. My sister had been on LDN for various AD and had been taking LDN. After reading up on it on some of the sites, I decided to try it. I brought all the info I had on it to my doctor and after 1/2 hour of convincing him to give me an Rx, he did saying we would see what happens and evaluate it in a few months.I started on a small dose taking it with the Amytriptelyn the 1st night. I slept thru the night, waking one and falling back to sleep. In the morning I realized the nasty pain I had in my right shoulder that kept me up every night was not there. I was able to touch my upper arm and felt no pain. My tendon had been mostly destroyed from a medication and could not be repaired. 6 months later I still have no pain. It did not repair itself, but I felt no pain without taking anything harmful. On that first day my brain fog was gone. I could hardly believe it. I was able to breath with ease, something I could not do for many years. I was able to walk the length of my house without stopping every 10 steps. I noticed my energy level went up without me being Hyper Thyroid. Over a weeks time I found I could do things I hadn't done in years. I cleaned and organized my closets and home.I have Scoliosis and had found over the past year I was stooping over. Sitting at the computer one day I got a sharp pain in my spine and thought I was going to be in trouble. I slowly got up and to my amazement found I was standing straight. I think my endorphins relaxed my muscles or whatever. It was a miracle for me. I knew from my sister that her friend who had MS was able to walk again after taking LDN.My memory came back and is now phenomenal. If I watched a movie on T.V. before, I could not remember the name of it after it started.Now I remember the name of movies and the actors in them that I saw yesterday and months ago. It is just extraordinary and if it did not happen to me I would probably not believe it. My pulse dropped 10 points from 80 to 70. and I lost 20 lbs without making any changes in my diet or lifestyle.All I can say is that LDN has truly been a miracle for me. I enjoy life now and feel so alive. I stopped taking Amytryptoline after the first night and have stayed on the low dose of 1.5mg that I started on.I hope people read this as I am not the only one who has found this to be a miracle drug. It may help you understand what is can do if you can't understand the clinical information in the book.
This book gave me lots of good information about LDN's health benefits. I started using LDN for fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome and I am already feeling better with more energy and motivation to take care of household chores and go out and socialize again after many years of not being able to do much of anything.
Eye-opening, succinct, extremely valuable information. Just finally found an internal medicine doctor who will prescribe LDN for my Hashimoto's and Sjogren's. I have been able to slow down symptoms by adhering strictly to the autoimmune protocol diet, but at age 66 have not been able to stop or reverse either disease. Only just started on the LDN so way too soon to see results, but am very hopeful, especially since I also just found alpha lipoic acid supplements (the good kind by Pure Encapsulations) and so, between the LDN and the ALA, am more hopeful than have been in a very long time. The great thing is, neither of these two things can hurt you, and so why not go for it? However, I will say, I am convinced that if you dump the autoimmune diet and try to take these pills instead, you will just be undoing yourself -- like pouring gasoline on the fire while also trying to pour water on it, you will be fooling yourself.

This is an excellent book. Thanks to this book I am using LDN for my Fibromyalgia. I recently had an appointment with Dr. Shukhman in Skokie, IL.This medication has helped many of his patients. My internist would not prescribe it for my Fibromyalgia, so I had no choice but to seek the help of a neurophyschiatrist who knows a great deal about pain. It is not a cure, but even it helps you only 10% it is worth it. I am taking this along with the medication prescribed by my internist, Savella and Klonopin. Most people with this disease know that it is a disease where there is no one drug that will fix all. There is no cure for this disease, but this might help you or someone you know. I have had this disease for over 30 yrs. years.CW

Nothing I'm going to say should deter you from choosing to read Drums of Autumn, the fourth book in the Outlander series. However, because Amazon tends to want readers to review, I am going to mention some elements of this book that gave me pause and kept it from being perfect. Overall, the book is as well written, researched and detailed as the previous three and worth the time I invested it it, but for me this one is not as thrilling and at times, felt ponderous. I plan to read the fifth book, but I am approaching it with the trepidatious fear of a decline in the overall quality of the series.******************************************************SPOILERS**********************************************************This book centers on the relationship between Claire's and Jamies' daughter, Brianna and Roger McKenzie Wakefield a historian and friend to Claire and Bree. They are two throughly modern young people in their early to late 20s. Both time travel to the mid-18th Century, Bree in search of her mother and father, Roger in search of Bree. I found it easier to accept Claire's initial time travel and subsequent return because both her generational upbringing ( England in the 20s and 30s) and her marriage to a scholarly historian would give her just a bit if a leg up on making the transition. Bree, on the other hand is a child of the 50s and 60s. She's been brought up in America and retains her fairly modern speech patterns and many of the idioms. Those idiosyncrasies don't seem to cause much if a stir among the strangers that she meets. It's not a huge thing, but it did notice it.My second and somewhat larger complaint lay in Bree's Olympic quality conclusion jumping. She and Roger become married by hand fasting and consummate their relationship. Two days later she is raped by a pirate. Upon finding herself pregnant she is immediately convinced that it is the child of the pirate. Much of the relationship angst between her and Roger revolves around that assumption. I found it a bit drawn out and contrived, but then many of Bree's actions and attitudes fell into that category for me. Bottom line, I found Bree to be impulsive, headstrong and a bit of a pain in the backside.The best thing Ms. Galbadon does is to write characters who are very, very human. In other words, flawed. I am giving Ms. Galbadon the benefit of the doubt that that was her thinking behind the writing of Bree's character.My last concern centers on a scene with Claire as she performs inguinal hernia surgery on a man in the midst of a dinner party. Even in the barbaric American colonies, a woman performing surgery in the region of a man's testicles in the midst of a dinner party strains credulity. The fact that this surgery was witnessed almost without comment by the dinner guests breaks it completely. It was a well written scene, but I just couldn't "buy it."I've enjoyed these books up to this point. Fingers crossed that the author's imagination doesn't stray too far in to the realm of incredulity in the next books.
I never thought I'd be the kind of person who would get swept up in a series of thousand-page epic fantasy adventure book, but here I am having finished book #4, mad that I have to wait a couple of days until the next installment arrives in the mail. I spoiled myself a little for Drums of Autumn, not so much on its contents, but I became aware that many fans consider this to be one of their least favorites, and one of the slowest of the books. So I went into it with a bit of a bias that I have to say was happily proven incorrect. For me, this book almost lived up to Voyager, and was miles above Dragonfly in Amber.Not going to lie, for me one of my favorite elements of the series will always be the Highlands, and I'm still disappointed we didn't get more time there. I assumed I didn't love DiA as much as the others because the setting moved from Scotland to France. But that wasn't it, because the move to the American colonies I had been dreading wound up working well. I think what went wrong with DiA was the remake of Jamie into kind of a dandy, trying to fit in with the silly French noble class. Jamie just doesn't make sense to me as a character outside of a rugged setting with a battle to fight. I worried I wouldn't enjoy the expanding cast of characters, or the shift in focus outside the Jamie/Claire dynamic, but it wasn't as clumsy as I'd feared. That said, I like both Brianna and Roger a little less after this book. In large doses, they are both super annoying. But I could read about Ian (and Rollo!) and Lord John all day.I didn't think the plot was slow. In fact, it gets a little old for me when Jamie and Claire have to escape death every 20 pages. But there was still a lot of story movement here. Enough to make it a page turner for me, for sure.
I have been readying all of the books and also watched the Star's serious so I got through this book but I do not think it was one of the best. These book are meant to be part of a series but also supposed to be able to stand alone. If this is the first book I picked up, I would not have read another. It was too slow and got into too much detail about the activities of daily living. I did find a lot of that interesting from a historical point of view but it got rather tedious and would have preferred more fast paced adventure like in the first two books. I am now on the next book and it a lot better. I will continue to read the series because I love all of the characters so much. If you are reading the series, I would recommend that you read this book just so you know what is going on but if you are going to read just this one, don't bother.

I loves the "Key to" series except the Geometry series. This reproducible tests book contains 2 tests for each of 3 Percents books AND the answers. A great way to review and test your child's understanding on the subject. Worth every penny.
I am a math teacher. I have used these Keys To series with my students for over 8 years. These booklets are well-designed and intuitive so that students are able to work out the problems with minimal help from adults/teachers.
Perfect for summer school refresher.
We homeschool. I highly recommend these workbooks if a child needs extra instruction in a specific area of Math, or the whole series as a stand alone Math curriculum. Very easy to use and understand.
These are my go-to books to teach percents and how to use them. Great for tutoring or home-schooling.

I started out really loving this book, but it got so convoluted and hard to make sense of, that for me it just got boring.

Oh My: this book was just so good.I was hooked and invested from the very instance I started this journey and what a ride this was.The basic premise here: Maggie wakes up from a coma after an accident that has left her daughter dead.The car slipped into the river after the handbrake wasn't engaged properly and despite Maggies best efforts Elspeth drowns and is pronounced dead at the scene.When Maggie eventually gains consciousness her daughter's funeral has past and her husband is missing.To further confound events their marital home has been sold seven years precious and their joint bank account has been cleared.Maggie is alone adrift without an anchor and she has no idea where her husband has disappeared off to, she is also suffering from amnesia and can't remember what actually happened the day of that terrible accident.So there's a lot going on here: So many strands of the narrative waiting patiently until eventually, a picture starts to emerge where all pieces of the puzzle connect.The flashbacks of Maggies returning memories like a trail of breadcrumbs marking the forward path.A deepening mystery in regards to Sean and his secrets and Maggie: what is she hiding from, what dark secret from her past is infecting her present.I also felt such a sense of sympathy at poor Maggie's confusion and current bewilderment at her present situation: not only has she lost Elspeth but her life has imploded so dramatically leaving her essentially alone.But the bit I liked most of all about this was that child dialogue and it's utter poignancy.It was like a beacon of hope that eventually was quashed by the realism and disappointment of life.That voice for me resounded so loudly through "Day of the Accident" essentially stealing the whole show.So this was psychological suspense at its finest a gripping page-turner that I read in one sitting.I actually thought I had worked this one out and though I had guessed some I was still blown away by that finale.This one is a definite thumbs up from me it was such an amazing read.I voluntary reviewed a copy of Day of the Accident.All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I absolutely loved this author's debut book My Sister's Bones when I read it a couple of years ago so I was quite excited to see what she had in store for her highly anticipated follow up - OH MY! I was not disappointed. This book hit the ground running, held me captive throughout and left me satisfied at the end.Maggie wakes up from a coma to the realisation that daughter Elspeth is dead. She was trapped in Maggie's car which then rolled into the river. Despite Maggie's every effort, she was unable to save her daughter, those efforts nearly killing her. She has even missed her little girl's funeral which happened whilst she was unconscious. To cap it all, husband Sean has also disappeared, last seen on the day of the funeral. Maggie remembers little of the events leading up to the tragic accident but is desperate for the truth, but will that truth allow her to heal? As she starts to peel back the layers of uncertainty, it soon transpires that there is much more to her story than just what happened on that fateful day.There is so much I would love to say about this book but spoilers prevent me from doing so. Suffice to say that there are secrets and lies aplenty and more than just a little duplicitous behaviour. Scratch the surface of anyone's life and who knows what will be exposed and, let's just say that Maggie has a more than colourful past that she is desperate to keep hidden but is forced to confront to get to the truth.Characterisation was once again spot on and with some of the characters in this book being a little, shall we say, shady, that's no mean feat! But they all came across as completely real and well fleshed out. The plot was expertly crafted and matched the pacing of the narrative every step of the way. Enough information was drip-fed in at exactly the right moments for the story to flow but still retain a level of intrigue and confusion, but not too much withheld to frustrate me.All in all a perfectly plotted pacy thriller that had me on the edge of my seat throughout and left me exhausted but satisfied at the end. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

A psychological thriller turned emotional which started with Maggie in the ICU waking up from the coma and being told that her child Elspeth had drowned due to her mistake, and she herself was found to be a state of near drowning trying to save her daughter. Add to this, her husband Sean had vanished into thin air. Then came the trials of Maggie trying to get her memory of the day back, which led to the tortuous road of the past and its hidden secrets.My first book by Nuala Ellwood had me gripped to my kindle wanting to make the pages fly and at the same time, slowing down to soak up the atmosphere of this mother and her grief. The book had me totally entwined in Maggie's story and her love for daughter Elspeth. I couldn't help but have my heart broken at the way she cried for her daughter. Told in dual viewpoints by Maggie and anonymous letters by a child searching for her mother, which created its own eerie effect.Some parts of it I could guess, but I have to admit Nuala did a phenomenal job in maintaining the tension in the plot all through. Maggie's emotions created a powerful arc which leapt off the pages to wrench my heart in her pain.The mystery of the lost memory, hidden past, vanished husband, drowned daughter, old affairs, old connections kept me hooked to this book till the last page which drew the entire story in a perfect circle.
