Megan Kreiner grew up on Long Island, New York, in a home where art and art projects were a daily part of life. Coming from a long line of knitters and crocheters, Megan learned the craft at an early age from her grandmother, her aunt, and her mother. Overall, I am impressed by the quality of this kit. The kit includes enough yarn to finish two classic Disney projects, specifically Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and after that, you will need to purchase additional yarn, fiberfill, floss, and felt to finish more characters. The kit does not say exactly what size the yarn is but it seems to be at most a 3 in weight and it appears to be acrylic and/or wool rather than cotton. I have also purchased the Peanuts kit and the yarn in the Disney kit seems to be a better quality. The colors of yarn included are: white, black, dark blue, yellow, and red. The felt included is black, light blue, and white. The floss is black and white and appears to be cotton. Also included is a tapestry needle (for the floss), an inexpensive crochet hook in size 4.00 (US G/6) and fiberfill. There are also fairly detailed instructions including many diagrams.While the yarn in this kit is very nice, I will be using my own stash to be sure that the sizes, colors, look, and feel of my characters are consistent. The instructions are detailed but I don't think that this is a project for most beginners. It uses techniques that crocheters with a bit more experience would feel comfortable with. If you are a beginner, just be sure you have access to someone or a website that can give you answers if you have any questions about the instructions.The book includes instructions for 12 Classic Disney characters which is outstanding. These include: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Chip 'n' Dale, Dumbo, Bambi, Lay, Pinocchio, and Jiminy Cricket. I have only one a complaint: if you are going to give us a Lady project, you should also have given us Tramp - they are a couple just as Mickey and Minnie and Donald and Daisy are couples. I was disappointed that Winnie the Pooh was missing from this kit until the designer let me know (in comments below) that Winnie was available in a separate kit along with 11 other characters from the Hundred Acre Wood. The characters are all quite recognizable and are sure to be a hit for any classic Disney fan. My entire family and especially my younger daughter have loved Disney for years so I will have a lot of fun crocheting these amigurumi characters. When we lived in Southern California (for many years), I always purchased season passes so we could go to Disneyland many times during the year.The hook is okay but I prefer to use my own for ergonomic reasons. The characters look to be fairly small - if you want to make them larger, use thicker yarn and larger hooks. The instructions should work well no matter the size. The tapestry needle is decent and works well for the embroidery purposes in the instructions. There are templates for the felt - which seems to be how the eyes and some other details are made. I will probably figure out how to embroider the eyes as I prefer that over felt whether it is glued or sewn on.The Peanuts kit had an issue in that they failed to give instructions for how to make the embroidery details that each of the characters requires. That is not true at all in this Disney book. While the instructions are not the best, they do give photos of the stitches in progress and also provide the names of the embroidery stitches you will use: long stitch, running stitch, back stitch, overcast stitch, and whip stitch. It should be fairly easy for you to find more detailed instructions on the Internet. I am already familiar with these stitches so the lack of great detail in this area is not an issue for me. There are also photographs showing how to add hair and made a twisted tail.On the whole, I really like the kit and the instructions and recommend it to an intermediate or above crocheter without hesitation. I have also purchased the Peanuts Kit and the Star Wars Kit by this company as well as the Winnie the Pooh Kit (which was distributed by another company and is being released exclusively on another site as I write this review.) All of the kits are of good quality and I have been enjoying crocheting the various characters.
The instructions are fairly easy to follow if you have a decent understanding of crochet terms, but there is also a guide in the front that explains the terms if you’re uncertain. I have not used the yarn that came with the kit, but like others have said a hook one size smaller gives great results. The Minnie Mouse I made came out so well that a coworker asked me to make more characters for her. Happy I made the purchase.
What a great kit! I loved the patterns! Easy to follow and cute end product. The material gives you JUST enough for the two characters, and I fell short. I used a thicker yarn for the Minnie and preferred the look and feel of it (instead of the yarn provided)
I love it I've made several and they all are easy and precious. I sew them to a small crocheted blanket and make huggies out of them or to the top of a crocheted golf head cover and give them as gifts.
The materials in the kit are advertised as worsted weight yarn. They are much lighter than worsted weight - and split with almost every stitch. Also, when the recommended hook (a cheap one is included in the kit) is used, there is not enough yarn to complete the figure. Next time, I will look for instruction books only - and buy my own supplies!
This kit really had enough materials for 2 characters. (I hate when kits run short.) My grandson loves his first 2 characters, I plan to make more for him. The characters are realistic enough that my young grandson could easily recognize them.
I love this product the book is great the instructions are easy to follow the only thing is the yarn that they send with it is a little thin you're better off to going and buying different yarn but when I made the products with other yard they turned out amazing I'm in love with it.
I liked that all the materials needed were included! I’ve been crocheting for many years but found some of the instructions a bit difficult to understand!!

About the Author
A recognized leader in the Multiethnic Church Movement, Mark planted the Mosaic Church of Central Arkansas in 2001 where he continues to serve as Directional Leader. In 2004, he co-founded the Mosaix Global Network with Dr. George Yancey and today serves as its president, and convenor of the triennial National Multi-ethnic Church Conference. In 2008, he launched Vine and Village and remains active on the board of this 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on spiritual, social, and financial engagement and transformation in Little Rock's University District, the 72204 ZIP code. Mark has written six books including his latest, Disruption: Repurposing the Church to Redeem the Community (Thomas Nelson, March 2017); and Multiethnic Conversations: an Eight Week Guide to Unity in Your Church (Wesleyan Publishing House, October 2016), the first daily devotional, small group curriculum on the subject for people in the pews. His book, Building a Healthy Multi-Ethnic Church (Jossey-Bass, 2007), was a finalist for a Christianity Today Book of the Year Award (2008) and for a Resource of the Year Award (2008) sponsored by Outreach Magazine. His other books include, re:MIX: Transitioning Your Church to Living Color (Abingdon, June 2016); Leading a Healthy Multi-Ethnic Church(formerly Ethnic Blends, Zondervan, 2010, 2013), and the e-Book, Should Pastors Accept or Reject the Homogeneous Unit Principle? Mark begins the book explaining the concept of "disruption" in the business world, and relates how the same concepts apply to the church. Much of the rest of the book focuses on applications of this principle in the church world, using the story of Mosaic as the backdrop. This is real world stuff, not academic theory. One of the most useful sections describes the establishment and purpose of Vine and Village, the churches umbrella 501 (c)(3). Churches and church networks stand to learn a lot from their ideas of adding a financial element to the spiritual and social elements most churches use to make an impact.The underlying theme of this work has to do with the intentionality with which this church has built a diverse, multi-ethnic congregation that truly reflects the makeup of their community. Read along with Mark's other books which focus on building a multi-ethnic church, Disruption is a must read for church leaders wanting their church to be relevant in the world we now live in.
I was mesmerized, conviction, affirmed, and challenged as I read this book. The Holy Spirit was constantly speaking to my heart. Before I even finished the book I bought a copy and sent it to my former associate pastor to whom I turned my last pastorate over to. This book is a Must-Read!
