I used this for the real estate exam, and found it to be very useful. It also contains sections devoted to mathematical analysis and terminology. I passed the exam on the first try.
I could have accessed this from the online course but I prefer hard copy for extensive reading. Also, this version has different quizzes at the end of each chapter than those in the course so I feel like I'm learning more.
Purchased to go along with online class. They followed along together really well. Easy to read and understand, concepts relayed really well. I liked the summary reviews of key concepts at the end of each chapter - that and the review questions at the end were great for cramming before the test.
This book is terrible! It is not specific to the principles book or practice book, it’s an overview of both. The title is very misleading. On top of that it is generalizes real estate. I live in California and the laws are different. After doing research I found that most other books are state specific, at least when it comes to California and Florida. Very disappointing! I wanted a book to read and take notes along side the online courses. Waist of money! Save yourself time & money don’t buy this book! Trying to find out if I can return it now!
It's the same as my online class material, only in book form. Good for hi-lighting, underlining and taking notes.
Purchased this book for my real estate studies as recommended. It will be one I will keep handy as reference when needed. Good informative material.
Easy to read and highlight without bleed through. Good quizzes and good practice test. Wish there were a few more definitions and the back and the index was a little more through. It would be really good to have a math section separate along with the math questions in the back, but I have taken this book everywhere and used often and it's still in excellent condition.
Necessary to pass a real estate exam, especially if you are taking an online course, and was delivered in a timely manner. Very helpful

I read a rather snarky review of this in Locus Magazine, but decided to buy it anyway & I'm glad I did. This is an exciting book that, as others have said, focuses on the role(s) of women in a punishing, patriarchical society in which women are only good for bearing sons, sex, & making minor magic potions (the latter two in the Abbey of the Unwanted where women are discarded for whatever reason a man sees fit). The magic is based on masculin (which few women can see), feminine (ditto for men), & neutral motes being combined for various usages, all of which are generated by 7 wells found in 7 different locales in this world. The magic using male mote combinations can be lethal, the female more for love, fertility, healing, etc. The book centers around a huge change due to a spell (which took generations of breeding the proper Unwanted women to pull it off - reminded me a little of the Bene Gesserit in Dune) which allowed women to not only control their fertility, but to also to see & use male magic motes, thus to kill. The broad impact of this is not understood by anyone until the Abbey of Unwanted is exiled to try to undo the spell; they end up in a a desert area where a Women's Well is discovered with a mixture of motes no one has ever seen, thus new spells are being generated for things never before tried. These previously unknown capabilities are a potential catalyst for a new world order.Others have described the characters, so I won't, except to say there are really bad men (2 particularly), several decent men, & some a mix of both, but the logical types one would expect from a long-term patriarchical society that doesn't hold women in high regard. The women are well-drawn, and they begin learn to use their new powers in ways that make sense, rather then immediately becoming warriors, e.g. Reviewers (including the one aforementioned in Locus) have found the lack of LGBTQ characters to be a major flaw, I can only say that societies with such an emphasis on patriarchy & toxic masculinity would likely have bred out any who did not meet the norm centuries ago.I also do not understand those who complained that the book was too long, and that it ends in a cliff-hanger; I read it cover to cover over 2 days & loved it. As for the cliff-hanger, that is almost a tradition in genre, The Two Towers or Star Wars Epiisode 4 anyone?My only complaint is the world isn't that well defined except for 2 of the 3 kindoms and one of the 4 principalities; since the 7 wells are critical to the magic in use, it would have been helpful to better understand which well in which locale provides what.Other than that, The Women's War has love, hate, kindness, brutality, discovery, & big changes; it has characters one can root for, those to believe in, & those to despise - enjoy.
In a world where women, even queens, are commodities to be bought and sold, three women give their lives to make a spell that rocks the fabric of society.The story of two women who are left to pick up the pieces is fairly well written and with good character development. Head and shoulders above the sludge that sci- fi is mostly putting out now, this is well worth a read.
So I downloaded it on a whim. And here I am, at 3am on the morning after I started reading,writing a review. I could not put it down! I'm attached to all the characters, and I hated to see the story end. Can't wait to start the follow up?

This book felt somewhat... generic. The magic system was interesting, the female focus was a neat change of pace, but the writing style was merely average. Also, given the focus on equality, the lack of any mention of homosexuality was strange, and the fat shaming was a bit weird.
The Women’s War is one hell of a story. Based on a society where women are considered second-class citizens, if they are lucky, this is the story of revolution led by two extraordinary women.Alysoon Rai-Brynna is a widowed mother of two and daughter of a king. When her father divorced her mother in favor of a more politically advantageous marriage, Alys and her brother were declared illegitimate. And her mother became an Unwanted, sentenced to life at the Abbey.Princess Ellinsoltah of Rhozinolm will become queen when the two most likely male candidates to the throne would most like cause a war. The plan: after her year of mourning, Ellin will take a husband who will then become king. Or so her council thinks.These two women will become the pivotal characters who react and overcome so many obstacles thrown at them in the aftermath of the world-altering spell.The story is complex and so many characters lives are intertwined it is impossible to represent all of that here in a review. So I will pick and choose a few characters…Crown Prince Delnamel (half-brother to Alys and Tynthanal) is the villain to boo at every time he turns up. Occasionally, he seems to have a teeny tiny bit of heart, but don’t let that fool you. There is one horrible scene where Delnamel arrests three senior abigails and then allows his men to rape the women of the Abbey. My heart ached at the scene, but it a critical event that changes the raped women in such a way that those men will have cause to regret.Tynthanal, brother of Alys and lieutenant commander at the Citadel, escorts the women of the Abbey to the wasteland to their new home. It is because of him that the women discover the new Well of magical elements. Thus Women’s Well was founded. Tynthanal is one of the few male feminists in the book.Semsulin, is the lord chancellor and head of the royal council of Rhozinolm. He is the man who talked Ellin into taking the crown. His motives are not entirely clear, though as the book goes on, he seems to support Ellin more and more. I think he only wants what is best for the kingdom and that is a difficult thing to determine.In a society where only men are allowed to use magic, it will come as quite a shock when those men learn that women are not only able to use magic in many ways, but they are also quite good at. If they don’t make room for women as equals, they will loose. Take as much of that as you wish as a commentary on any aspect of women’s history in our own world.The cover by Elizabeth A.D. Eno, is beautiful and inciteful and truly represents the story. Ms. Eno must have read the book before she crafted her cover.The Women’s War is 560 pages long according to the published page counts. You would think 560 would be enough to tell a story. It isn’t. Be prepared for a huge cliffhanger. The only characters whose stories are resolved are the ones that died. The description on NetGalley gave no indication that this was the first book of a series. The Women’s War gets 4 stars from me, losing one star due to the gigantic cliffhanger. (I may have thrown a fit when I finished the book. I don’t remember. It is all kind of fuzzy.) But if I was the type of reader who didn’t mind cliffhangers, I would give it all 5 stars.Heartbreaking, hopeful, magical and emotional. The Women’s War truly is an amazing story.Here is a quote from the book. It was said by Alys’s mother, right before the world upended:"Something is going to happen tonight. Something … momentous. Something that will change the world in ways I can’t entirely foresee."Through Netgalley, the publisher provided a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I should've been the target audience for a "high fantasy feminist epic," yet I found this novel mediocre in many regards and outright harmful in a few others. The Women's War was indeed a story of disenfranchised women banding together to change their role in society, but it included fat-shaming and ignored subjects like toxic masculinity that would have been relevant to the plot. The pacing was slow for a large portion of the novel, only a few of the characters' plot arcs grabbed my interest, and the book ends on a morbid cliffhanger played for cheap emotional impact. I'm disappointed with the flaws because I enjoyed many aspects of the worldbuilding, including the magic system. I don't recommend this novel.

This book is good except forthe writeup of NYC which Includes a large disgusting inappropriate photo of some kind of raw guts that the author claims are frequently eaten in NY. I lived in New York for 27 years and never saw such a horrible thing anybody’s plate or in any restaurant. But that photo was enough to turn off my daughter-in-law and grandson who never want to go to New York City and I understand why when I look at that picture. What were they thinking??!
My son loves this book and has enjoyed many hours of fun with it and learned about other cities. The book has just the right amount of fun facts and nice pictures about each city.
Got this for my twin nephew and niece as we prepare to go to Paris. It's interesting and has good valuable information.
My little kids love to read this book, it has so many interesting thins to see world around it.

Absolutely a must have prayer book. I wake up every single morning and head straight for my prayer book. I also share the daily prayers with friends. I love praying to the Angels and each and every prayer is beautiful.
When faced with the need to pray and not sure how to with power and efficiency I looked for a book of prayers and did not find any that fit my needs. David Reid Ross is a brilliant mathematically-trained scholar turned astonishingly perceptive critical analyst of Quranic and very early Islamic history.This study complements Ross’s other books and articles made generously available through his website and Amazon. They may reshape the textual history of the Suras and ought to be read in conjunction with major studies by Theodor Nödeke, Angelika Neuwirth, Gerd R. Puin, and Robert G. Hoyland’s quranic and early Islamic studies (especially in Hoyland’s case: Seeing Islam as Others Saw It [Darwin, Princeton: 1997]).Prospective readers would also do well to immerse themselves in the recent anthologies by Ibn Warraq on Muhammad and the Qur’an before exploring Reid’s works.The textual efforts of these scholars has been largely focused on the chronological history of the Suras and how little known textual changes were made to those sacred and “inviolate†texts. Reid’s dense works argue generally that there were significant changes and modifications made to the text of the Qur’an during the early centuries after Muhammad’s death. Such textual changes were supposedly made by the early Califs and men in authority in response to religio-political historical challenges.Though Reid lays out comprehensive and detailed discussions and argumentation, the level of detail and interconnection from other essays and recondite scholarship will restrict the readership of Reid’s studies to specialists. He could also use an editor to unpack and smooth out many of his discussions.And while it is wonderful that the author has made his ongoing work so accessible (see also his reviews on Amazon and twitter blogs), the inexpensive format of academia.edu has meant very small and often hard to read typography, which adds to the pains a reader must take to properly understand Reid’s highly important and challenging studies of the Qur’an and early Islam
Densely packed with textual analysis mostly about the second Islamic Civil War which occurred 675-695 AD, this book can appeal to both serious students of Islam and mid-eastern languages, and the general reader. It also has a fascinating tour of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem based upon the stone engravings. It uses an avatar character to add some drama to many chapters, and it has 12 appendices on more specialized topics such as "Through the Gates to the Garden" and the final "The Keys to the Garden Are Swords." I have spent many fascinating hours with this book and have many more ahead. Definitely worth the small price.
I came across this book after reading Mr. Ross's exceedingly delightful and informative Amazon reviews on various books relating to early Islamic history. The book is, to be honest, an odd book with a rather jarring style. Mr. Ross writes in an extremely dense way, throwing out a blizzard of technical terms and references that hardly anybody except a scholar in the field would grasp. He also writes with a number of stylistic peculiarities, like humorous Internet citations. Yet, somewhat surprisingly, he clearly hoped that this book would have a sort of general-interest appeal, and organized the narrative (including the fictional narrative introductions to each section) to appeal to the general reader. But the book itself is designed to address a relatively technical subject, and cannot possibly be of much interest to a general reader; Ross seems to be aiming to make an academic contribution and to produce a book with broader appeal. He may have accomplished the former, not the latter.In any event, Mr. Ross's main aim is to give a detailed reconstruction of a particular period in early Islamic history and relate it to certain developments within Islam, particular in the context of the Qur'an. He proposes a reconstruction of several Qur'anic surahs that presumes that they were written or revised to address the propaganda needs of several different factions during the Second Fitna, or Islamic civil war as it were. He then throws in a variety of additional appendix chapters addressing various disparate subjects. Overall the text is rather disjointed and lumpy, with excessive focus on some areas that Ross is clearly quite interested in, while quickly gliding over others.As a non-specialist, I have little ability to comment on whether his historical reconstruction is plausible or not, nor can I evaluate the plausibility of his speculations regarding the Qur'an and its revisions. I would be very interested to see an academic response.The one aspect of this book that struck me as implausible, ironically, is the very prolixity of detail, citation, and factual references that Mr. Ross cites. He seems to accept a level of intensive historical detail about this period (taken from much laterIsalmic tradition) that I find highly implausible given what we know about the emergence and structure of the hadith. After all, if the Qur'an was revised/rewritten to suit propaganda in 675-695, despite relatively intensive constraints on revision, how much more radically were hadith fabricated to suit propaganda aims in 750-900, when there were almost no constraints prior to Bukhair's compilation attempted to impose some discipline? As argued in Gabriel Reynolds' new book from 2012, I think it's more interesting to ask how the Qur'an illuminates the development of the hadith regarding Islam's emergence, rather than the reverse (and more traditional approach).Two other points. First, my copy of this book was evidently printed in response to my order, with great speed (looking at the binding date), which I think is very cool as a publishing approach.Second, I would love for Mr. Ross to comment on the new Qur'an "lower texts" that have recently been published in large part, both by E. Puin (in small part) and in much larger part by the two professors from Harvard/Stanford (whose respective names escape me at the moment). That text, the earliest Qur'anic text known, apparently PREDATES the Second Fitna by a considerable measure, so it would seem to be a great controlled test bed for evaluating many prior hypotheses about the Qur'an's compilation and revision, including those that Mr. Ross attempts in this book. I would be very curious about what light that earliest Qur'anic text throws on Mr. Ross's hypothesis, per his account, and what he perceives its significance to be for early Islamic studies more generally.
