I probably read this book to my kid three times a day. Not by choice...she throws it into my lap, makes a bird noise (quack, hoot, tweet), and forces me to read it. Shes an 18 month old dictator. If she wants the bird book, we must read the bird book. I give this 5 star review in her honor.

We love the Mrs. Peanuckle books! I can’t wait to buy them all. The fun facts for each bird make it interesting even for me to read. My 2 year old has me read the Mrs. Peanuckle books to her several times a day, so I’d definitely recommend them for your child’s library.

My kids love these books, so educational and the illustrations are so cute!

Good book

We have the entire series. Our daughters favorite books.

I love this book and have purchased multiple copies for gifts. Children may begin to learn bird names at an early age.

I am so impressed by this book! Super adorable!! I'm a bird lover and would highly reccomend getting it!

Well worth the buy

Review

"The most exciting and scholarly exposition of the theory of extraterrestrial intervention yet written." (John Michell, author of Secrets of the Stones and A Traveler's Key to Sacred England)"The Sirius Mystery argues with some sophistication the likelihood that superior beings from Sirius visited earth between 7,000 and 10,000 years ago. . . . Temple unleashes a torrent of arcane information . . . a swirl of genuine astronomical mysteries, anthropological dates, and the tricky cross-currents of comparative mythology." (Time Magazine)"A fascinating book because the nugget of mystery Temple has mined and polished is from a pure vein. . . . The Sirius Mystery should be taken seriously." (Nature Magazine)"Von Daniken and Velikovsky followers should have a good time with this book, which is buttressed by some impressive looking scholarly apparatus." (Publishers Weekly)"Before dismissing Mr. Temple's theme as fantasy or science fiction one should read his well-documented book and examine his case without prejudice." (Oxford Mail)"The mind not only bends but warps." (Kirkus)"The mind boggles....Robert Temple is cautious. He has intellectual integrity...(his) massive research into the ancient mythologies of numerous civilizations and cultures one can only regard with awe." (Sunday Times (London))

A pretty serious and interesting book by Robert Temple, requiring sharp attention and careful scholarly consideration. There is so little that we really can claim to know about our own history as humans and this book is just another representation of the scope of how "little" that little really is. Of course, for staunch Darwinists these ideas may be no more than fiction, mythology, but upon deeper reading we have to understand that mythology on some level is more factual than the facts concocted by the scientists. After all, comparing to a human life, the age of a myth is much much longer. On this point I am bound to believe that we have never developed gradually from the one-celled organisms, then amphibians and finally primates. There are way too many glitches in that (still) theory. First of all - why there is no evidence of any primates becoming human in the last several thousands years of recorded history? Second, where are all the connecting links between the fish and the humans. I would expect a much higher diversity of different variations of fish-humans being still present and functioning as part of our current biosphere. Third, why haven't we seen any humans evolving into the super-humans, whatever that may mean. Obviously we are not the apex of evolution, in fact considering what we are doing - we are much worse than the dung-rolling beetles. At least they get rid of the excrement. So with this disregard for the theory of evolution, I have to conclude that if we became, at least physiologically what we are today, that must have been a rather fast, laboratory like process. Indeed, looking at the great complexity and the great variety of creation it is hard not to conclude that this was all created by the Creators too sophisticated to understand. I think this book is a great step on the way to connecting with ourselves, and our true ancestors no matter how far away they may seem.

How does a Stone Age, West African tribe know minute details about a STAR, invisible to the naked eye, orbiting in a binary system with the visible star Sirius? Furthermore; How do they know about a THIRD star in the system that wasn't known to astronomers until recently and, then, only with with the use of powerful X-ray and Optical telescopes? More baffling; how do the Dogon know PRECICELY the orbital times and ratios of these Stars and their utterly astonishing relationship with the planet EARTH? Robert Temple leads an exciting investigation into ancient knowledge given to the Dogon and handed down for centuries (according to their religion, art and tribal history); Information, of staggering proportions, that correlates exactly with what science has learned in the past 100 years. The question is: not whether this knowledge was given to the Dogon... but given by whom? Robert Temple's work is backed with years of (footnoted) research and a dedication to stick to the facts and not allow himself to fly-off into speculation, about Visitors coming to Earth, just to boost sales in the "New-Age" market. In fact, in my opinion, Robert Temple's work, presented in this present, updated edition, reveals a history with stunning implications and an opportunity for the Human Race to "Know Thyself" as never before. Read the evidence and judge for yourself if Earth was visited by Alien Contact 5,000 years ago? Many are frightened (by evidence of their 'tags') but only open minds have ever revealed history shaking events, nor ever will.

Some of the more critical reviews of this book have stated that the information in it is not really new. The point is that The Sirius Mystery was originally published in 1976, over 30 years ago. It was new then. In fact, the book caused quite a stir, especially in Europe, where Temple's explanation of the cosmology of the Dogon tribe was well received. At the time the Sirius Mystery came out, I was deeply into the tabloidish Erich Von Daniken and I found Temple's writing too intellectual, too scholarly for my liking...so I merely skimmed over it. Since those heady days, and having read just about everything else I could get hold of, I have long since drifted away from the alien astronaut thesis. So re-reading the Sirius mystery now leaves me a little flat.I would caution readers that the writing style is a little difficult, but there are some real gems inside, so it is definitely worth persevering. Certainly, none of Temple's critics have been able to discredit his research or refute his conclusions. I give it only 3 stars because his conclusions are too forced to sit comfortably with my own sense of logic.

A greatly detailed book why the author thinks Aliens came here, and their connection with Egypt and the Dogon Tribe of Africa. Why the Dogon's celebrate the passing of Digitara, their home planet around Sirius, every 64 years.Very interesting.

Strangely, after reading this many oddities and things I'd seen many times seemed to fit well into this mystery. Can get rather tedious to read, but it is very interesting.

It's a great revelation concerning the advanced knowledge of the Dogon and a link up to other theories about the Annunaki. The book belabors the point a bit, especially concerning Jason and the Argonauts, and the dragon's teeth. It drags a bit but the information is still very interesting.

This book is chuck full of amazing information and should be widely read. Another volume is the "ancient alien" series, but much better than most. A great addition to anyone who is interested in alternative history library. 5 Stars

A+

Semi-true story of a teenager who gets addicted to meth, written in poetry by her mother. Beautifully written, but it loses steam near the end and sort of fizzles out. There are two more books in the series, so I suppose this wasn't meant to be the true ending. Still, the momentum just bottomed out at the end, almost as if the writer gave up or was short on time and had to just toss something together, or was just too darn tired to keep up the fiction any longer. As she says in the afterword, her daughter was incarcerated in prison by the time this first book was written, so I think the mother/author just wanted to be done with it and move on by then. I can't really say more without discussing the specific plot line and ruining it for you.

I remember all my friends reading these books in high school, but I didn't want to. I didn't care for the content or style....and I'm glad I didn't read it then. I don't think I would have appreciated the story as much at 14 or 15 as I do now. I had to force myself to put it down to do other things.

Every have a book that you really enjoyed but had a hard time figuring out why? Glass was like that for me at first. As I continued to read, I kept rolling my eyes at the main character Kristina as she continues to destroy her life. I despise her mother and step father for being in denial as long as they were. I do not care for her friends when they can just abandon her as quickly as change their shirt. What makes the story even more tragic is how she gives up her own baby for the meth. You would think that would motivate her to do better and be better. If anything, she uses the baby as an excuse. The meth helps her lose the baby fat because she does not eat, and it helps her escape the stress of being a mother. So why do I like this story so much if I find the characters so despicable? Well, first off it is a very compelling story. I am willing to admit that I started to feel sorry for Kristina as her world came crashing down. She lost ties with all her family because of her own choices but when I saw how it was affecting her I still hoped for something good to happen, but it never did. What really enthralls me is Hopkins' style. I love reading this story in prose. She even gets more creative in this one by meshing up her prose into different shapes reflecting the situation she is telling. These books are deceptively short yet a lot more happens than most stories. I would definitely recommend continuing this series if you enjoyed Crank. It is a terrifying yet awe-inspiring tale of what continues to happen with meth addicts and the continuing dangers of addiction. If Crank and Glass do not give you pause about drug use, nothing will.

This is by far one of my favorite authors, and this book doesn't disappoint! I read this book in one sitting, that's how good it is... I love how she chose to write this series in free verse. I was a little skeptical at first thinking that it wouldn't flow very well as a story because of this choice but boy was I ever wrong! This story will catch your attention from the very first page and reel you in.

I can't get enough of this author and this series. It's an easy read that holds your attention until the very end. Although fiction, many of the obstacles the characters face are very real for teenagers in today's society. If you are looking for a book that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, this is not it.

I have had this book in my wish list for a while and on a whim I decided to get it. It did not disappoint. It continued the story started in Ellen Hopkins' Crank. I really enjoy her style of writing, not only form but shape as well. Just about every page has words in some wacky arrangement, and in some pages you will find a "hidden" passage. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, although I would advise you to read Crank first and keep Urban Dictionary handy if you are unfamiliar with terms related to drugs, specifically meth (I lived a very sheltered life so I was looking up words from the book quite frequently.)Conclusion: Loved the book, same style and characters from the first book, Crank, had to look up some words b/c I'm not familiar with slang words for drugs.

Amazing. Ellen Hopkins brings it again with another great story. Glass has so many scenes where you just want to reach out to the main character and help her realize she's heading in the wrong direction. Sad, frightening, eye opening. It's interesting to see a good kid go bad real quick. I think this helped me be much more patient with the teens im surrounded with and try to help. Being a non drug user, I often though people basically had a bad life and went the wrong way but its eye opening to see a good kid with a seemingly good life go bad real quick. Sad. Great book. Enjoyed the read.

Crank is always a classic. It’s true, raw, hard, painful- and tries to make sense of the concept of drug addiction. Will read again and again and recommend to everyone
