My wife is an avid quilter and I have purchased these Engagement Calendars for her each year since I first found them five or six years ago. She says they "inspire" her. Even though I don't quilt (my brother is a professional long-arm quilter) I like quilts and these engagement calendars have an abundance of beautiful quilts pictured in them.
I've used these calendars for years! They give me just enough space to make notes for each day (set up by the week) and, each week I get to examine beautiful, creative quilts made by quilters from all over the country. There's a new quilt each time I turn the page. Will be buying them every year! What a beautiful way to keep up with appointments.
I am disappointed that Sunday is not listed as the first day of the week. I would like to see more traditional and folk art quilts. The overwhelming pictures are of art and contemporary quilts. I may look for another book next year because this has been a trend in this engagement book for the last few years.
It is difficult to find spiral engagement calendars (that start on Monday). I have kept mine over the years and this one is similar in size so will fit nicely on a shelf. I like spiral calendars because they lie flat. The quilts are lovely.
I've used these calendars for many years and like them very much. It is always fun to see and read about the new quilt coming up every week. Very inspirational. What I like best about the calendar however is the space to journal what I do every day.
As a quilter, I love the inspiration I get every week just turning the page. This keeps me on schedule, too; but I use it mostly for inspiration. I probably own all of them since they first started printing!!
I buy one of these calendars every year. they have plenty of room for writing in daily appointments etc.it fits perfectly on my computer table so i can keep track of all my engagements.

Born leaders, they were experienced woodsmen who could survive in the wild. But their names are linked because together they were cocaptains of a famous journey across the North American wilderness. They headed up a two-year-long trip all the way from the Midwest to the Pacific Ocean—and back again. Their journey became known as the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

For two years Lewis and Clark, eventually aided by Sacagawea and her husband Charbonneau, traversed rugged territories by land and water, stopping only to make winter camps in the harshest of conditions.When the explorers returned to St. Louis in 1806, they shared a plethora of information ranging from maps and Indian tribes, to unknown plants and animals. Their copious notes and drawings are invaluable to this day.
My 7-year-old grandson was studying the Lewis and Clark Expedition in school and asked me to find out if there was a book about them in this series. I have bought him 7 or 8 others, and being a history buff, he has loved them all! When this one arrived, he unwrapped it and immediately began to read it out loud to me. We both learned a lot we did not know about these two men.
A very well written and comprehensive accounting of the Lewis and Clark Expedition available in a condensed format for children. I purchased this book for my grandson and was impressed with how much detail was presented in this abbreviated version as compared to the book, "The Journals of Lewis and Clark" edited by Bernard DeVoto, a condensation of the Lewis and Clark journals that I had read this past summer. I look forward to giving more of the books in this 'What Was, Who Was' series to all my grandchildren.
These are the best books ever for kids....and I learn a lot too.
I love all these "what was" and "who was" books. They are extremely well-written and interesting for young kids (elementary age.) My son did a report about Lewis and Clark and got all his information from this book. He had plenty of info and was able to easily write his report.
My son is doing a project on Lewis and this was perfect! It arrived on time and in great condition. It was a bit of an easy ready for him in 4th grade, but did the job.
I am a huge fan of the Who Was and What Was series. However, this book has not kept my sons attention. We are on our second time of trying to read it. The writing is a bit confusing at times, and he gets frustrated trying to keep the people straight. Not our favorite, but still educational.Update: After reading it again, we have changed our rating to a four star. My son did a better job of understanding and we stopped and talked about it more. That seemed to help. We also learned Sacagawea had such a huge role in the expedition. Amazing!

I enjoyed the diversity of perspectives in this book, though some of the points and experiences are a bit repetitive. As a whole the book gives voice to the frustrations born of the 2016 election, and considers the intersectional nature of the challenges ahead.
I bought this for a girl I’m seeing and she initially loved it. As a male reader this was very insightful for me, and she said as that this book will be a great motivation for her to write about her own related experiences.
This collection of essays were enjoyable and maddening to read. I also found them strangely therapeutic after the nonstop barrage of events since the election.
The book is a feat of incorporating a variety of perspectives on the last presidential election, its contexts, and its implications. I particularly appreciate that the authors featured therein are often not in agreement with one another, something lacking from political discourse in general these days. Further, the reflections span from being focused on horse-race politics to policy to workplace equity to more personal reflections, from looking at what could have gone differently to how to move forward from here. All-in-all, this is an excellent collection of essays representing a refreshingly diverse set of viewpoints.
Loved hearing all the different ideas, opinions and facts coming from people of every walk of life.
Wonderful writing by wonderful women. I recommend this to anyone looking for an entry book into the topic of feminism, as all the essays are very easily digestible and make for good conversation starters.

I would recommend this book for those who have some notions of aromatherapy and would like to learn more.I am a massage therapist and I did a training in aromatherapy for massage only and then got interested in aromatology.This book clearly shows that this author is experienced and she knows what she is talking about. I learned more about aromatology(clinical aromatherapy) thanks to this book. Read it twice and I use it as a reference on a regular basis. Would like have more recipes maybe for the internal mode of application, but still a good book.There are also some clinical examples. Real author, happy I found one, as aromatherapy secton is spammed by low-quality material. I am happy this book is written by a professional author and aromatologist. Good job Maureen, I will be recommending your book!
Except for listing some oils, and one to two words categorizing the use, and not much else, that's what you get. You definitely get what you pay for. Could have easily gotten the info off an internet search, or you tube. Don't waste your money.
I have used essential oils to make soap and scents, but this info was more healing related. I gained knowledge I didn't have about essential oils and how to use them for common ailments. They work, and they don't create new problems when used properly.
I would have liked more recipes to make for any symptoms. Also more variety of essential oils in the book. The dilution part of the book was good. It needed more information on how to use each oil for whatever symptom., and where to apply each one, and how to apply it for each symptom.
This is a good book for the beginner. A suggestion for the basic oils are given and some uses. It has good safety tips and other information lacking on some of the other essential oil books.
I did not read this yet ... but Essential oils are my life!!
I have been slowly making my own products. This booklet has been very informative allowing me to understand the natural formulas. A nice easy to understand book on to topic.

The story starts with the teenage heroine gets attacked by a werewolf and kills it. Fine. She then finds out from a young and handsome werewolf/human that she is a hunter. He takes her to meet two werewolf friends---man an d woman. These are good wolves and they want her to join them to fight bad wolves. She says she needs to think about it.Two days later the handsome werewolf comes over and tells her why there are good and bad werewolves and why the bad werewolves are after her. First she says she is not afraid because she wants to join the good werewolves only if he wants here to. He says she needs their protection but he understands why she wants no part of it. Then she complains that he doesn't want her I his world. He says it's dangerous but the good werewolves say she needs their protection. She complains because he doesn't want her he is just asking for the others.Confused yet? At this point I gave up. The girl is being hunted by werewolves and all she cares about is does this boy like me. Ugh!!!!!!
I have mixed thoughts about this book. The story kept me turning pages to find out what happened next but I didn't like the basic premise. The war between the two races, the werewolves and the hunters, bothered me, especially when the two sides seemed only too happy to kill members of the opposite race. Yes, the "good guys" are trying to bring about peace but they have to kill an awful lot of the "bad guys" to protect themselves in their efforts to bring peace. Tara and Wes don't seem thrilled about killing their enemies but several of those working with them seem only too eager to kill.Note: I started reading this book on Google Play but found a page missing so downloaded it for free on Amazon to finish the book.Sex: There is a strong attraction between Tara and Wes but their relationship stays chaste in this book other than a few serious kisses.Violence: Lots of killing as mentioned in my review. The description of the book begins with Tara killing a girl so the violence is to be expected I guess.Language: Pretty clean - only three or four vulgar words used and no cursing that I recall.Religion: None
I know that I am no where near a YA, but I still enjoy a good story such as this. I get easy frustrated when the story moves too slow, and/or there are so many typos that you have to try to figure out what the author was trying to say. Frustrated or not, I always finish whatever novel that I'm reading. Even though typos are a pet peeve, I know when an author is good and when the storyline is also. In this novel I found 2, count 'em, 2 typos and they were both the same use of you, instead of your. To me this is absolutely amazing. It's been so long since I've been able to read a great novel and my OCD not kick in!!! Hats of to Mrs. Hildenbrand for a job extremely well done! If you like sweet romance, action, mystery, suspense, and the paranormal all rolled into one, get this book! The main characters are young, (making it YA), but the content is totally for any age. Especially, those young at heart. I love a great author who is able to pull you into the storyline, make you not want to put the book down, and be sorry when it ends, leaving you wanting more. That's just what this ebook was for me. If you're an avid reader, like I am...get this book!! You won't be sorry!!Happy Reading!!!
When I first started reading this book, I was very afraid it was going to be another Twilight (pretty "meh" definitely not my thing). What I got, instead, was much more of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer kind of story. Tara does have some stereotypical weepy teenager moments, but overall, she's pretty strong and relatively smart.The best part of this book, for me, was the cast of characters. Every character felt like they had so much of their own story to tell. I especially wanted more pages given to Jack and Fee. Hopefully the next books in the series do give them more time. It was especially fun to see the different personalities and their dynamics as they worked together. My favorite moment was when Tara's grandmother came into the picture. Everyone in this fight is (pardon the language) badass.So, despite my general dislike of YA Supernatural Love Stories, I genuinely had a good time with Dirty Blood. While the romance is, sometimes, painfully at the front of the story, the overarcing story of the Hunters vs the Werewolves vs the Council is incredibly interesting. This world is rather engaging and I'm strongly tempted to pick up the next book in the series to see how much of the world gets expanded on.If you like YA Supernatural books, this is a good one to pick up. It only has Werewolves and Hunters (so far) but it has a good amount of action and a nice level of intelligence.

This was the right book for me at this time. Using Google to "come up to speed" on this REST buzz-word, and the SOAP/WSDL vs. REST "debate" was not enough. Competing opinions about further Web Service development at our company demanded that I get some kind of objective picture of possible technologies; pretty much REST vs. SOAP/WSDL/WS-*.This book has given me enough information to participate in the discussion, without "religious" fervor, and with some pragmatics, I hope. The book was not everything I had hoped for, (do I even really know what I hoped for), but was very good. I think I get it; HATEOAS, REST, and leveraging existing proven Web technologies and HTTP and ATOM. A suprise to me was how much I learned about HTTP; I knew nothing about it really, at a technical level. I never have had the need, so the HTTP information was good for me.The next step for me is to evaluate existing "tooling" for REST support. In an MS .NET environment, WCF gives us great SOAP/WSDL/WS-* support, and this is a huge plus, despite my new understanding regarding the "shortcomings and wrong thinking" regarding the WS-* approach.This was my entry point into REST, other than some good Wiki reads, and I would highly recommend it to others.
This is a good introduction how to build a solid REST API and implement hypermedia. It's a little dated and uses Atom as the hypermedia format example instead of a newer format such as HAL but the concepts are still the same and can easily be applied to other hypermedia format. It has a good example of a coffee shop, Restbucks that they build upon in the different chapters. It makes a really good case for hypermedia and the good reasons to use it. So many of the books on REST are so focused CRUD based REST services and the implementation which is one reason why this book is so good since it looks at it from the architectural perspective and the different things to consider. They also have plenty of code examples that you can download for .Net and Java.
This book explains REST in a platform generic way. The author explains the levels of REST compliance, and why you would want to be RESTful in the first place. You are guided step by step, finally building a fully RESTful server side code.This book does get dirty, but it is at its best in provided slow, careful explanations of each step.This is not a book that you will read in one night. Take your time, and the understanding will come.After all, REST is much more than Remote Procedural Calls.If you want to thoroughly understand REST, get and read this book.
I finally understand what it means when we say about a service that is RESTful. This is the first book that managed to explain it right and simple. If I have any complaint about this book is that it sometimes going over some point over and over again. Sometimes paragraphs do feel a bit redundant which makes the reading a bit tiring. However, the author's attempt to attack explanations from different angles is probably one of the things that help this book convey the message in a good way.
I learned a lot from this book. Probably could use less "fodder" in the form of C# and Java implementation code. Conceptually, though, it's a very good start to REST.
With so few books on REST it is hard to judge. With the two worthwhile books that are out there; this one and RESTful web services it was hard for me to choose which one to buy. I ended up choosing this one because I wanted something that gave me an overall view of Rest before getting into details. While the web services book goes into more depth in areas plus has great examples in Ruby (which I'm coding in) I had wanted something that would give me a better foundation and description of the problems that Rest solves. I found that in this book. The book builds up its description with great diagrams and code snippets (no pages among pages of code dumps yay!). The one are that I found not so useful for me was there was a fair amount of the book that was spent on ATOM syndication. While it was interesting I didn't really see the point of getting into that much depth for a book on Restful foundation. I might be more useful for someone else who is implementing something with ATOM feeds; for me its not the case. The other part was that there are examples in both .net and in Java. I think the author should of chose one language to stick with. I would say Java (or better yet in JRuby).Other than that it was very well explained for anyone who wants to get a good overview and code examples on how to begin.
It's a great resource for someone who is new to REST as well as for an experienced developer. It's very well written and is an easy read with lots of information on not just REST but also related topics like OpenID and OAuth. Only the rant against WSDL and Web Services was kind of unnecessary.
