This impeccably-researched biography taught me so much about Jesse Owens. The book is not just for sports fans. The author highlights Mr. Owens' strong character as she tells the story of his humble childhood and navigation of racial and social obstacles as an adult. We could all use a good read about a fine human being who models grace and dignity til the end.

This is a good book, but it an abbreviated version. I believe that the full book would be a better read.

Jesse Owens was an American hero, and his story —while unique to its era— provides a timeless lesson. This biography is a solid go-to book for the YA market!

Judith Pinkerton Josephson has done her research, providing young adult readers with a well-rounded picture of this gifted Olympian athlete who made history at the 1936 Olympics. Jesse Owens, the man, led by example and went on to become a humanitarian, mentor, family man, sports ambassador, and friend to many. What an inspirational story!

Jesse Owens is a very interesting man. I think that the author of this book did a great job with the amount of information and detail.
